As senior environmental specialist, you will be part of the European Standards & Environment Team (EST), which is responsible for ensuring compliance of all of our clients  products to applicable European regulations and standards. Your primary role will involve monitoring and reporting on the regulatory issues relating to Product Eco-design and Energy Labeling Regulations and other emerging regulations on Product Sustainability such as ESPR (Eco-design of Sustainable Product Regulation).

While product energy efficiency has been the key focus of Eco-design regulations in Europe, compliance requirements are expanding to encompass other environmental parameters, addressing the full range of life-cycle environmental impacts associated with electronic products and appliances. To be a successful candidate, you should possess extensive knowledge and experience in various eco-design issues, including product energy efficiency and performance, product durability, design for recycling, ease of repair, recycled plastic, and life-cycle carbon footprints.

Senior Environmental Specialist

Key responsibilities:
 Lead a comprehensive monitoring and reporting program on Product Eco-design and Energy Libelling regulation development relevant to a wide range of products including Televisions and Monitors, Computers, Household appliances, and Heating and Cooling equipment.
 Provide guidance and advice to HQ and Business Unit (BU) product compliance/standard teams on technical and administrative requirements under the Eco-design and Energy Libelling regulations and prepare for additional product sustainability requirements (e.g. reparability/durability index, product environmental footprint, digital product passport, etc.) that may be required in the future under new product sustainability regulations.
 Ensure compliance of European Subsidiaries according to legal requirements applicable to product sales & marketing and service (e.g. on-line information, spare part provision, repair information, etc.) and organize regular compliance check and benchmarking activities.
 Coordinate market surveillance handling when member state authorities conduct compliance documentation check or product testing on products.
 Represent our clients interest in European industry associations (e.g. Digital Europe, APPLiA), participate in standardization activities at the local and European level (e.g. CENELEC, ETSI), and engage in dialogues with diverse EU policy-makers to positively contribute to rule-making on product sustainability with a goal to find effective and pragmatic solutions to mitigate climate change impacts and enhance circular economy contributions.
 Collaborate with other regulatory affairs members to lead a comprehensive product compliance assurance program within the team according to the principles of the new legislative framework and the product compliance and market surveillance regulation.

What are we looking for?
A successful candidate for the Senior Environmental Specialist position should have the following profile:
 Master’s degree in product engineering with a specialization in environment/sustainability issues
 In-depth knowledge of European regulations relevant to electronics product compliance and CE marking, in particular in the field of Eco-design, Energy Libelling, and Circular Economy
 Minimum 5-7 years working experience in a similar function, preferably within a relevant industry and an extensive network with industry experts and policy-makers;
 Proven track-record on product compliance assurance in consideration of complex technical and legal issues and ability to provide clear guidance on legal gray area issues
 Fluent in English both verbal and written
 Comfortable working in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment
 Strong team player, contributing actively to a cooperative work environment and collaborative problem-solving/decision-making
 Proactive and initiative-driven, taking ownership of tasks and driving them to completion
 Ambition to develop a career as a top industry expert and team leader

The following competencies are desirable:
 Experience with product compliance testing and certification, in particular in the field of energy efficiency and product performance,
 Extensive knowledge of technical features of electrical/electronic products (hardware and software) and their life-cycle environmental impact
 knowledge on other technical regulations on product safety, EMC, RF, Cyber Security issues is a plus
 Excellent planning and organizing skills to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently
 Strong presentation and communication skills to engage internal and external stakeholders effectively;
 Experience in managing and coaching team members and ability to build bridges between different subject matter experts
