Job Description

What will you be doing?

As (Senior) Environmental Specialist you will be part of the European Standards and Environment Team, which is responsible for compliance assurance for a wide range of product regulations and standards in Europe.

The working activities will include:

  • Monitor EU and member state regulations/policies relating to the company’s environmental compliance, focusing on chemicals/materials related legislation (RoHS, REACH, SCIP database under Waste Framework Directive, F-Gas, Biocides, POPs, Food or Drinking Water Contact Materials, Nano Materials, , etc.)
  • Keep track of developments of broader European Circular Economy and Sustainability related topics (Microplastic, Eco-Labels, Green Public Procurement, Green Claims, Carbon Footprint, Conflict Minerals, Supply Chain Due Diligence, Corporate Sustainability Reporting, etc.) by collaborating with other specialists within the team;
  • Participate in industry discussions on chemicals/materials legislation and circular economy initiatives and represent our clients view in rule-making;
  • Liaise with European chemicals/materials test labs in case 3rd party testing or consulting is necessary
  • Update Headquarter on all regulatory issues mentioned above on a regular basis and provide clear compliance guidance to relevant departments in order to assure our clients compliance with the applicable legal requirements;
  • Handle government market surveillance on chemicals/materials related product compliance in co-operation with relevant factories and subsidiaries;
  • Support EU sales subsidiaries in their compliance obligation management and green communication by providing them with chemicals and materials-related data and responding to sustainability related inquiries from customers, NGO’s and end-consumers;

Who are you?

The Environmental Specialist has the following knowledge and experience:

  • A relevant Bachelor/Master’s degree (or equivalent) relating to EU chemicals/materials legislation, sustainability, environmental sciences/engineering/management or material analysis;
  • At least 5 years of work experience in relevant industry is desired;
  • Ability to analyze complex technical/regulatory topics and provide a clear summary and compliance guidance to relevant departments;
  • Familiarity with substance analysis, testing, or toxicology evaluation is a plus;
  • Interest and broad knowledge on environment/sustainability management issues
  • Fluent in English both verbal and written communication;
  • Good communication and presentation skills;
  • Ability to work independently in providing services to others and managing all issues and inquiries systematically;
  • Commitment to quality of work and personal integrity;
  • Advanced MS office users;
